October Update!

Dear Friends,

I’ve returned Stateside after a productive summer in Wayanad, India. One major accomplishment is the purchase of 2.7 acres of land, just outside of Prashanthagiri. We are getting ready to renovate the property to accommodate our field fellows and other field volunteers. All of Profugo’s development initiatives, such as the Water for Life Project, Tailoring Program, ELS, Agriculture, Aquaponics, and Natural Resource Management will be housed here. Future plans are underway to integrate Eco-Tourism and research facilities to provide additional resources to the COD and the community at large. The land is an amazingly scenic plot with abundant fruit trees, crops, and spices!  We are absolutely thrilled to have come across this land and to have made the commitment to the community that we are in your hood!

Things are looking good to implement our Water for Life project this winter, which includes 3 wells and a distribution system.  There are a lot of details to iron out and our field fellows have been instrumental in coordinating efforts between community members, engineers, and the Executive Committee.  We are looking to raise an additional $5000 to cover all costs, so please consider supporting this project!

Other exciting developments include the growth of our team in the US office.  We have been joined by Tk Rodgers as our Creative Director and 4 new Development Interns.  They have done a fantastic job redesigning our website and preparing for the launch of the Profugo Store.  Yay team!  We’ve also been strengthened by some amazing organizations and persons stepping up as collaborators this year.  It started with one introduction…  Please continue to network on our behalf as you are the needed link to continue building sustainable solutions for developing communities.

~Greetings from one profugo to another!
