Tip: Eat with Basmati rice.
Ingredients:
500 grams (either King Fish or Pomfret), cleaned and cut into pieces
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
1/2 cup shallots, sliced
2 tbsp ginger, julienned
1 tbsp garlic, chopped
A sprig of curry leaves
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp freshly grated black paper
Coccum- 3
Salt to taste
Heat oil in pan and add mustard and fenugreek seeds. Add the shallots and saute until they turn deep brown in color. Next, add ginger and garlic and fry for some time. Add the curry leaves to the oil and mix.
Reduce the flame to low and add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and black pepper. Fry the spices for one minute. Add a little water (just enough to cover the spices) and coccum and mix well. Cover and boil until oil appears on top.
Remove the lid and add cut fish and pour enough water to cover the fish pieces. Mix very gently so the fish pieces don’t break. Add salt to taste. Cover with the lid and cook for 10-15 minutes.
Enjoy!
