PLEASE JOIN US in supporting and cheering on the youth of Wayanad!
Profugo’s Youth Programs include initiatives such as The Student Support Program, English Language School, and A Beam of Light for Young Women. A brief description of each initiative follows.
The Student Support Program helps students in Wayanad, India who are below the poverty line gain access to education. For these students, the cost of school supplies is a real barrier to education. The program provides them with the school supplies needed for a full school year. This has been a very successful initiative and in 2018, Profugo is looking to support 200 students!
The English Language School provides essential English Language learning support for students of all ages using a customized, well-rounded curriculum. Younger students learn fundamentals of grammar, speech, listening and literacy while being exposed to new cultures and worlds through our film-based young learners’ curriculum. Teenagers and adults benefit from our English Language Crash Course, where they have the opportunity to expand their vocabulary, practice conversation and feel more comfortable using English in everyday situations. Classes are taught by Field Fellows as well as local instructors.
A Beam of Light (ABoL) is an initiative to benefit Young Women in the area. The goal is to provide a space dedicated to the growth and expression of young women and to allow them with opportunities to build skills and knowledge as they grow as leaders of the community!
Where does your money go? For every $20 that you donate, one child will be sent to school with the supplies that he or she needs. For every $250, Profugo is able to provide Youth Programs such as The English Language School and ABoL for approximately one month.
