Ms. Manjusha, a 36-year-old woman from Valad, is part of the Profugo family. As a girl she grew up with many dreams and aspirations. In secondary school she opted to major in Literature. However, two years into her studies the tables turned altogether. She was married at the age of 19 and had to stop her studies. Later child bearing and raising her children did not allow her to continue her studies. She was confined to her home as a housewife taking care of her husband and children, a girl (15) and a boy (12).
But Manjusha kept her dreams alive in her heart. Once Profugo announced the launch of the Community Resource Ambassador (CRA) program, she happily applied and was selected. The staff noticed the spirit in her to learn and do more and Manjusha was offered the opportunity to take part in the Women Leadership Training Program. She quickly advanced with her desire to be of service and aptitude to learn. As part of this program she was mentored by the field director and also instructed in Spoken English.

In 2024 she was selected as a management intern to support programs in the office. This is a management training program where book-keeping, administrative, and business support competencies are taught and practiced. After successful completion she will lead one of Profugo’s programs, a dream that Manjusha pondered in her heart for long- “Contributing something to the society.”
Manjusha is getting trained in Microfinance, Safe Food Program. Organizational Compliance, and Administration. Manjusha will be a true asset for the organization in the long run. A real transformation from a homemaker to a management position – the vision that Profugo holds regarding women’s empowerment.
In the words of Manjusha, “I will complete my graduation and will work along with Jenny Mam to realize her dream of empowered women. I want other women also to be transformed as I have been. I am confident that Profugo will surely be a place where a lot of women will get trained, access income generation opportunities through the food processing, agriculture and animal husbandry programs visualized by Profugo. I am happy to be part of this movement.”
